Update1

Kenny was born on Penang Island, Malaysia, and dreamed of learning music. However, his town lacked music teachers and practice spaces. To pursue his passion, he traveled six hours weekly to take trumpet lessons. Despite the difficulties, he remained dedicated to music. His perseverance led him to earn a full scholarship to a music university.

"I was lucky to receive a scholarship to study music, but many children in Malaysia struggle to access music education. Lesson fees can take up a large portion of a family's income, and instruments are even more expensive. Even if they have an instrument, finding a practice space is difficult. Because of these challenges, many talented children are forced to give up their dreams. It pains me to see this happen."

After university, Kenny traveled abroad for performances. He noticed that, in many countries, all children had access to music, regardless of their family’s income. Families could enjoy concerts together without financial barriers. He was especially inspired by musicians who performed in rural areas for children. This experience made him realize the need for similar opportunities in Malaysia.

"Seeing how music was an everyday part of life in these countries, I realized that children in Malaysia also deserve the chance to grow through music."

Returning to Malaysia, Kenny began offering free music lessons to children in underprivileged communities. Through this experience, he discovered a powerful truth: every child has music within them.

"Teaching these children, I learned even more from them. Seeing their faces light up as they played music for the first time showed me its incredible power. Music nurtures creativity, confidence, and teamwork. I wanted to create a space where Malaysian children could grow through music."

Determined to make music accessible to all, Kenny founded Rondo Production, an independent initiative that helps children learn and enjoy music together. He also established Rondo Music Academy, where professional musicians teach students various instruments and music genres.

"The Rondo Music Academy is the space I have always dreamed of. It is more than just a school; it is a place where local musicians and children grow together. Here, anyone can learn music, no matter their financial situation. It is a space where the community connects through music. I want to nurture talent and create a cultural and artistic hub for everyone."

To ensure that all children have access to music education, Kenny provides scholarships for students from low-income backgrounds. Thanks to this support, many Rondo Music Academy scholars have already started careers in music.

"One of our students, who once struggled to hold a trumpet properly, is now performing with the national orchestra. Another has returned to their hometown to teach music, planting seeds of change for the next generation. Seeing these transformations fills me with pride."

Local musicians at the Rondo Music Academy are now teaching more students than ever. Penang is gradually transforming into the musical community Kenny envisioned. Rondo Production aims to become a leading music education center in Southeast Asia. It seeks to provide more opportunities for young musicians. By supporting professional artists, Rondo Production hopes to create a lasting impact.

"Our goal is to establish Rondo Music Academy as a leading music education center in Asia. We want to collaborate with international artists to support Malaysian musicians and help more young people build their future through music."
